Chesterfield man charged in shooting death of state trooper – vagazette.com

DINWIDDIE -A 28-year-old Chesterfield County man faces a capital murder charge in Thursday’s shooting death of a Virginia State Police trooper on Interstate 85.

Master Trooper Junius A. Walker, 63, died at the scene from his wounds. He was shot multiple times with a shotgun during a traffic stop near mile marker 45 in Dinwiddie County, roughly 30 miles north of South Hill. Walker was a 35-year veteran of the department.

According to a release issued Friday morning, Walker pulled up next to a black sedan stopped on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes to check on its driver. Moments later the driver, later identified as Russell E. Brown, allegedly opened fire.
